New Year, New Me?

Ah, that old chestnut. Here's to 2023 and actually taking time to reflect on the books I've read/listened to this year. I've finished 7 books so far so the goal is to get caught up with those before the end of the month and then stay relatively on top of it from there. Watch this space...

17 - The Match by Harlan Coben

I was instantly hooked and could not have been more excited to get the opportunity to read The Match (Wilde #2) via NetGalley. If you liked The Boy from the Woods, you’ll love The Match. There is more intrigue, more drama (family and otherwise), and more answers to questions you probably had following the first book.  We pick up with Wilde following the discovery of a DNA match on a genetic genealogy website. He is able to discover the identify of PB and his father with the help of the few he has let into his inner circle. No surprise, chaos ensues and there are several mysteries to be solved along the way. I very rarely figure out the twist and typically fall for every red herring and this was no exception. It was a fun ride of a read.   Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read

11 - Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead by Elle Cosimano - Audiobook

This post contains affiliate links. For more details, see my disclosure  here . I absolutely loved Finlay Donovan is Killing It so it came as no surprise that Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead was another home run for me. Someone wants Steven Donovan dead and Finlay and Vero are back and up to more insane antics, the hot cop and the lawyer and still circling, and there are no shortage of surprises. There were enough predictable moments that led me to believe I had it all figured out… spoiler alert: I did not! At times sweet, emotional, shocking, and laugh-out-loud funny - this was a fun story that leaves you wanting more!!  Angela Dawe is truly a master at her craft and it makes all the difference in the listening experience. I read the first book and listened to the second, which was a fun way to revisit Finlay in all her messy glory!  Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to the book early. All opinions expressed are mine alone.  5 out of 5 stars.

48 - Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr

This post contains affiliate links. For more details, see my disclosure here . I’m had a little trouble staying engaged to start as I was more interested in some timelines than others but at around the halfway mark all of the storylines completely sucked me in.  It’s a really ambitious story and it I was a little weary at times but it definitely delivers. My only complaint, which I almost have for stories following multiple characters, is that the end felt a little bit rushed in an attempt to give every story a wrap up of sorts.  All the Light We Cannot See is one of my top 5 books of all time and while this does not crack top of my charts, Anthony Doerr writes such richly developed and beautiful worlds and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride to connect the dots through time.  Thank you to NetGalley and Scribner for the opportunity to read the book early. All opinions expressed are mine alone.  4.5 out of 5 stars. PopSugar Reading Challenge prompt - ?? I haven't matched it up with a prom
